Bill MartinMedia has been providing Video Conference technology to Clients since 1992 with continued success. At the time, we provided services at the Australian Chamber of Manufactures Conference Centre in Melbourne utilising a Picturetel unit on a 128K Microlink and able to communicate with any part of the world. More recently installations have included units with simultaneous multi point capability and a 400% quality improvement at less than half the cost of the earliest unit we used.

A videoconference (also called video conference) can be thought of as a phone call with pictures - and indications suggest that videoconferencing will soon become the primary mode of distance communications. According to definition by videoconference authorities, a videoconference is a live connection between people in separate locations for the purpose of communication, involving audio as well as video. At its simplest, videoconferencing provides transmission of video images and audio between just two locations. At its more developed state, it provides transmission of full-motion video images and high- quality audio between multiple locations almost anywhere on the world.

The tangible benefits for businesses using videoconferencing include lower travel costs and profits gained from offering videoconferencing as an aspect of customer service. There are videoconference technologies that are appropriate for IP ( computer network) and ISDN-based (public telephone network) videoconferencing.
